The Ripple Effect of Positive Change Through Words and Actions

“Dr. Reinbolt, I’ve been thinking of signing up for a half marathon.  You know what?  I’m gonna go for it!  Your talk today motivated me to do it!” 

This conversation actually happened just a few weeks ago, after I had given a talk to the employees of a large physician staffing company, of which I am one of their doctors.

Their leadership asked me speak for two primary reasons.

First, they wanted me to share my first-hand experiences to give them insight into my day-to-day life as one of their docs.

Secondly, they had been looking for someone to help maximize their staff productivity and to help improve their already positive morale.  I immediately accepted their request, feeling confident that I would achieve both their goals!

I’m already a “rah-rah” type of guy. This was going to be an easy task for me!

My four Pillars of Patience, Persistence, Dedication and Discipline, described in my book “In Pursuit of Extreme Greatness” served as the foundation for my talk.

There was a large in-person and virtual audience.  Based on their active participation and strong questions, I could tell I formed an effective connection with them. (I didn’t see anyone nodding off or looking at their cell phone!)

I told quite a few pretty interesting patient/medical and race stories, which provoked further questions from the guests.

The best part of the experience for me was after my talk when there was a line of people waiting to speak with me individually to share their backgrounds, journeys and goals.  Almost all told me of how they made the decision to basically, “Flip the Switch” and attack a long-standing goal that they had been sitting on for a while.   

Without question, it’s so rewarding and satisfying to see my words and actions result in positive change in others.  This will have a ripple effect to degrees sight unseen.

In this next chapter of my life, I will be speaking more and more, using my book as a “curriculum”. The ultimate goal is to help anyone achieve the Extreme Greatness that lies within themselves!
