Emergency Physician | Ultramarathoner | Speaker | Catalyst for Achievement

the unlikely
ultra champion
Dr. Russ Reinbolt wasn't born an elite athlete. As a self-described "98-pound weakling" passed over for sports in his youth, he discovered that discipline—what he now calls his "superpower"—could transform limitations into achievements.
Today, Dr. Russ lives at the intersection of high-stakes medicine and extreme endurance sports. After treating over 100,000 patients during his 20+ year career as an emergency physician, he now divides his time between saving lives in the Pacific Northwest and completing some of the world's most grueling ultramarathons.
medical excellence
With nearly 21 years in a busy San Diego emergency department and now practicing in the Pacific Northwest, Dr. Russ has faced countless life-or-death situations. His experience treating critical patients—often with limited resources and under extreme pressure—has honed his ability to perform when everything is on the line.

Ultramarathon Achievements
Dr. Russ shares stories of extreme physical challenges and accomplishments:
-
Completed the 430-mile Montane Yukon Arctic Ultra in temperatures reaching -40°F
-
Finished the notorious Badwater 135 through Death Valley
-
Conquered the Tahoe 200 and other mountain ultramarathons exceeding 100 miles
-
Pushed through frostbite and exhaustion when others would have quit

The P2D2 Framework
Through these dual careers, Dr. Russ developed the four-pillar framework that guides his approach to every challenge:
P
PATIENCE
Maintaining composure when everything is falling apart
P
PERSISTENCE
Continuing forward when every instinct says to quit
D
DEDICATION
Committing fully to a goal bigger than yourself
D
DISCIPLINE
Executing consistently when motivation fades
This framework has helped him save lives when resources were scarce, complete races others couldn't finish, and overcome significant personal challenges.

beyond achievement
Dr. Russ lives in San Diego with his wife of 19 years and two teenage daughters. Despite his disciplined approach to achievement, he maintains balance by enjoying a large bowl of ice cream three nights a week—proving that even the most dedicated performers need simple pleasures.
